Questions about the WTS and the UN

i just learned about the society's connection with the un and i'm shocked.

i had been experiencing doubts before but this new information is like a slap in the face.

before i begin with the questions i should probably start with a introduction.. i'm a 29 year old married man serving as a minsterial servant in the south suburbs of chicago.

As far as I can tell, we only just became aware of this issue within the last month or so. My understanding is someone "stumbled" upon the UN-NGO website, wherein the WTS is listed as an ngo. The investigation took off from there.

Absolutely not.

Absolutely not. It was a completely voluntary motion by the WTS, who solicited the UN for association.

There is no denying this move aids the WTS with their international interests, but that does not make such an association a necessity. As I mentioned, this was a voluntary step taken by the WTS.

Bottom line, the WTS has entered an agreement to "support" the organization they claim to be the scarlet beast/disgusting thing. They have committed to support the beast, and devote a portion of their information programme (ie: WT journals) to promoting the beast's agenda.

For me, the problem is not supporting the UN; for me the problem is the gross hypocrisy.

8 What about Abram's immediate family members? Evidently, Abram's faith and conviction had a dramatic effect on them, for both his wife, Sarai, and his orphaned nephew named Lot were moved to obey God's call and leave Ur.

How stupid is this? The fact that Abraham's wife and orphan went with him is due to his faith and conviction? Ummm, couldn't it just be because they were his wife and orphan?

9 Before setting out on his journey, Abram had much to do. He had to sell property and goods and purchase tents, camels, food, and needed equipment. Abram may have sufered financial loss in making such hurried preparations, but he was delighted to obey Jehovah.

Then again, he may have experienced financial gain. But that's beside the point. We should always be prepared to suffer financial loss for the sake of the organization.

14 Abram had left behind a prosperous city. Yet, he could now envision "the city having real foundations," a righteous government over mankind. (Hebrews 11: 10) Yes, with but scant information, Abram had begun to perceive the outline of God's purpose to redeem dying humankind. Today, we are blessed to have a far more extensive understanding of God's purposes than did Abram. (Proverbs 4:18) The "city," or Kingdom government, for which Abram hoped is now a reality-established in the heavens since 1914. Should we not, therefore, be moved to acts of faith and trust in Jehovah?

Utterly ridiculous! Even in the New World Translation, Hebrews 11:16 reads:

But now they are reaching out for a better place, that is, one belonging to heaven. Hence God is not ashamed of them, to be called upon as their God, for he has made a city ready for them.

So in the first century AD, Paul says God "has made" a city ready for him - not 'will make' a city ready for him in 1914. (So much for having "a far more extensive understanding of God's purposes".)

Notice also in Hebrews 11:16, Abraham was "reaching out for a better place, that is, one belonging to heaven." A poor translation, but even so, compare Matthew 8:11. This totally destroys the WT notion that Abraham would not go to heaven:

Wrong. Absolutely false. The role of these non-governmental organizations that are associated with the United Nations is defined in UN resolution 1296 (XLIV) of May 23, 1968, which states that an NGO "...shall undertake to support the work of the United Nations and to promote knowledge of its principles and activities."

Note also, from the UN-DPI document:

...disseminating information and mobilizing public opinion in support of the UN and its Specialized Agencies. Association with DPI constitutes a commitment to that effect.

In registering with the UN as an ngo, the The Watchtower Society has committed to support the work of the United Nations. Period. Now they either lied to the UN (in which case they are proved liars), or they are supporting the UN (aka, scarlet beast).

Provide written proof of this or be quiet.

Can someone show me the verse where Paul signs the agreement to support the beast, and devote a portion of his letters to promoting the beasts agenda?? It escapes me at the moment. I think it's in one of the epistles...

DON'T MISQUOTE UN-DPI WEBPAGE!

below is the first heading from the un-dpi-ngo webpage.. i have noticed that folks here have misquoted this section several times.. please read this carefully!.

what is an ngo?.

a non-governmental organization (ngo) is any non-profit, voluntary citizens' group which is organized on a local, national or international level.

A non-governmental organization may (or may not, for that matter) be associated with the UN in different ways. In the case of the WTS, they are associated with the UN Department of Public Information (UN-DPI), under the catagory of "human rights".

This is an official association that the WTS applied for, 10 years ago.

This is not a mandatory relationship. The WTS made a choice to associate with the UN.

In my opinion, the following two sections from the NGO/UN-DPI faq provide the most incriminating information, as it lays out the requirements and responsibilities of *all* NGOs associated with UN-DPI (ie, the WTS):

"What are the Criteria for NGOs to become associated with DPI?"
Organizations eligible for association with DPI are those which:
- Share the ideals of the UN Charter;
- Operate solely on a not-for-profit basis;
- Have a demonstrated interest in United Nations issues and proven ability to reach large or specialized audiences, such as educators, media representatives, policy makers and the business community;
- Have the commitment and means to conduct effective information programmes about UN activities by publishing newsletters, bulletins, and pamphlets; organizing conferences, seminars and round tables; and enlisting the cooperation of the media.
"What are the responsibilities of NGOs associated with DPI?"
Since the founding days of the United Nations in San Francisco, NGOs have made valuable contributions to the international community by drawing attention to issues, suggesting ideas and programmes, disseminating information and mobilizing public opinion in support of the UN and its Specialized Agencies. Association with DPI constitutes a commitment to that effect. Associated NGOs are expected to devote a portion of their information programmes to promoting knowledge of the United Nations' principles and activities. In addition, they are expected to keep the DPI/NGO Section abreast of their activities by regularly providing samples of their information materials relating to the work of the UN. These are also made available for perusal at the DPI/NGO Resource Centre.

Nice job Randy.

The only suggestion I would make is to take the "What are the responsibilities of NGOs associated with DPI?" section from the UN-DPI document and make it front and center, as you did with the section on "What are the Criteria for NGOs to become associated with DPI?".

There are some particularly incriminating statements in the "responsibilities" section, that a casual surfer might not get otherwise:
